We seniors are still considered to be among the State's most vulnerable so, while all members and guests are encouraged to come to the Center and participate in activities and events, it’s a personal choice – you all are asked to “adult” and decide what’s best for you, based on your health and preferences.
As noted in previous emails, the entire Center has been thoroughly cleaned and sanitized. Each area of the Center will be re-sanitized at the end of any activity held in that area and the Center will be re-sanitized each evening to ensure all common door knobs, push bars, etc. are safe.
Please check with your Activity Leader to see if he/she plans to be at the Center to run the activity. As of today, the activities cancelled until further notice are Ballroom Dancing and Mahjongg.
Effective immediately and until further notice, all snacks must be in individually sealed units (small bags of chips, cookies, etc.) so it can be “grab & go” without tongs or serving spoons to prevent cross contamination.
Activity leaders using coffee pots or water pitchers must wash and sanitize what they use, utilizing the 3-sink process in compliance with the Florida Dept. of Health regulations. Please contact our Ops Manager (licensed Food Service Manager, State of Florida) for info on this if needed.
All participants in events/activities will be requested to do the following to ensure the safety of themselves and others:
-- If you feel unwell for any reason, please do not enter the Center!
-- Practice “safe distancing”, keeping at least 6 feet between you and others.
-- Do not wear gloves (exception will be those working Bingo). Gloves give a false sense of safety, resulting in many surfaces touched and cross contamination.
-- You are urged to wear a mask but it is not mandatory. If you wear one, do not touch your face to adjust your mask.
-- Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds (hum “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” twice) prior to beginning any activity.
-- Wash your hands again each time you leave the room for any reason.
-- If you can’t reasonably wash your hands, then use hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol (per CDC guidelines).
We appreciate your understanding during these trying times and look forward to opening our doors so you can come and enjoy your Center again under our “new normal”.
And we all look forward to the day when a vaccine makes COVID-19 a thing of the past.

NBSC President
P.S. Wash your hands!
